Larissa has always had a deep connection to art and design, poring over the works of masters and practicing figure and portrait drawing daily as a child. Her competing interests in science and the natural environment led her to a B.S. in Geology from Union College in upstate New York. Upon retiring from a fifteen-year career teaching middle school science, she found herself experiencing a sudden and acute pastel painting compulsion after unearthing a box of old Alphacolor pastels. Now pursuing art as a career, Larissa is making time to paint daily alongside raising her rambunctious one year old son. In addition to painting, Larissa is an accomplished cyclist and calligrapher.
Though she paints in Virginia, Larissa's heart is in New England where she was born and raised. In addition to capturing little moments of gorgeousness in her daily life, she is always pushing herself to try new subject matters to test her skill with pastel and to discover new methods. Her favorite subject matter is any that tell a story and she is always pleased to help others capture their most treasured memories. Please contact her for commission inquiries.
